THE FOUNDERS
Maria was formed at the start of the decade by a group of friends sharing a common past and a similar idea of how to have fun. Their conversations about creating a brand fueled their will into action and they began to shape the entity that would ultimately become Maria.
In the beginning the idea of forming a brand was essentially raw and wild, with pure concepts and primitive ideas. Luis and Rui begun working to materialize the brand while remaining true to all their original thoughts and ideals.
Amidst road trips with friends, surf sessions and nights out motorcycles, surfboards and clothing started to be built, made and designed. Luis and Rui have a common professional background, both having spent a good part of their life working in design and other creative fields.
